You don’t have to drive far, fight crowds, or spend a lot of money to enjoy Christmas lights. We are fortunate to live near a few free beautiful light displays in Fayette County, PA.
Sometimes we just drive by, and other times we light to get out and walk around. The kids are usually very motivated to run around light displays so it’s a nice motivator to get outside in the dark and cold parts of the year.
If you like to drive around and look at lights, you’ll probably enjoy knowing where so many beautifully decorated homes are located in Fayette County. Check out this list for a guide to find some homeowners who go all out.

If you are taking little ones along, I might offer a few tips that we have found helpful in our family. We often take along our pocket-sized bluetooth speaker and play a bunch of Christmas music while we run around and dance in the lights. It keeps the kids moving and distracted from the cold. Our favorite tune is The Kiboomers North Pole Freeze Game and have often played that it on repeat for a half hour straight.
Also, I’ve found that the key to keeping us outside in the cold is keeping my kid’s hands warm. Keeping gloves on toddlers can be a challenge. The only success I’ve had is using Cubbies by ETS (ETS Apparel).
I don’t know if these displays will be up every year or not, but it’s something to be on the lookout for. I’d love to grow this list, so if there are more displays in the area, please let me know.
Storey Square – Downtown Uniontown
Storey Square is located in the heart of downtown Uniontown, PA, and lights up typically during the Christmas in the Square event. A visit to Storey Square can be paired with The Uniontown Historic Walking Tour, performances of the Nutcracker next door at The State Theatre Center for the Arts, or a visit to several locally owned shops and restaurants in the downtown area. Hutchinson Park – South Union Township
Hutchinson Park in South Union Township has a fun Christmas lights display. The roughly 0.75-mile walking loop around the park connects to the Sheepskin Trail at a beautifully decorated covered bridge. The walking loop is lit at night and is a great place to get some exercise in the dark.
The Historic Chimneys – Route 40
The Historic Chimneys located along The National Historic Road, once belonged to the Turner Inn which was lost to a fire. You can go and learn about the history here and enjoy a nice holiday light display.
This is located heading up the mountain from Hopwood or Uniontown. Traffic can move quickly on this road. But, there is a large area to pull off and park with a sidewalk for a quick out and back.
Watering Trough – Route 40
Located on the opposite side of Route 40 from the Historic Chimneys (heading down the mountain) is the Watering Trough offers a beautiful light display. Also located on The National Historic Road, here you can take in some history and learn more about the water source that served travelers for thousands of years.
Braddock’s Inn – Farmington
Braddock’s Inn along Route 40 (The National Historic Road) has a larger beautiful display in the large field next to the restaurant. Be on the lookout for a light-up night event in December. You can also visit British Major General Edward Braddock’s grave on the other side of the restaurant.
Laurel Highlands Visitor Center
The Laurel Highlands Visitor Center also has a beautiful display at the intersection of Route 40 and 381 on The National Historic Road.
I hope you get outside and enjoy these beautiful holiday displays. If you found this helpful, leave a comment or tag me on Instagram @adventureswkelly. I’d love to hear about or see your adventures in these spaces. My family is thankful to all who work hard to create these magical spaces.
